Three Madison College softball players were named All-Region 4 following successful 2026 seasons on the diamond. Freshman
Cassie Coffey received a first team distinction, while sophomores
Lauryn Etienne and
Shelby Brooks were both second team honorees. The trio gives the WolfPack a total of 56 all-region recipients in the history of the program, and marks the tenth consecutive season with three or more all-region selections.
Coffey, a native of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, proved to be a tough out and a tough defender in her first collegiate season. At the plate, Coffey led the team with an impressive .462 batting average that ranks tied for sixth best in a single season in program history. She amassed a team-best 48 hits, 27 runs, and six stolen bases. Coffey produced 14 extra base hits, including two home runs and seven triples that tied for second most in a single season. She finished the year with 19 multi-hit games, highlighted by a 4 for 4 day that featured a career-best four runs scored and a program-record three triples against Onondaga Community College on March 17. Her season also included an 11-game hitting streak that spanned the month of April. In the outfield, Coffey committed just three errors and posted a .958 fielding percentage with seven assists and 62 put outs, including a few highlight-reel catches.
Etienne, an Oregon, Wisconsin, native, was the ace of this year's pitching staff with a 10-5 record and a 1.80 earned run average that ranked fourth in all of Region 4. The righthander racked up 114 strikeouts over 97.0 innings in 18 appearances. Those efforts put Etienne fourth in program history for ERA in a season, sixth in single-season K's, and tied for 16th in single season wins. Etienne produced four games with double-digit strikeouts, with two games tallying a season-high 11 strikeouts. She will exit Madison College fourth in career earned run average at 1.87, 11th in total strikeouts with 133, and 16th in career wins with 12.
Brooks, a native of Plover, Wisconsin, was right behind Coffey with a .429 average that places her 17th in program history for a single season. She finished the year with 30 hits, including six extra base hits, 13 runs, and nine runs batted in. On two occasions, Brooks came through with three hits and tallied nine games with two or more base knocks. An infielder, Brooks posted a .900 fielding percentage with five errors, 26 put outs, and 19 assists.
"This was a tremendous group that did so much to contribute to the overall success of our season," stated head softball coach
Leo Kalinowski. "Coffey was an absolute ball of positive energy, one of our leading hitters, and covered acres of ground in the outfield. Etienne was a pit bull on the mound and a great team leader. And Brooks developed into an astute hitter able to hit to all fields and became a difficult out, while also being a steady fielder and team leader."
