MADISON, WISC. - The final day of the 2026 softball regular season brought two setbacks for Madison College. The WolfPack lost a resumed game from April 14 by a 3-1 margin in nine innings, and then suffered a 5-2 loss in the finale of the doubleheader with Triton College. Despite the losses, the Pack still owns a 31-20 advantage in the all-time series.
Game #1: Triton College 3, Madison College 1 (9 innings) - Original Recap
A game that saw Madison College score in the third inning and fail to close out a win by allowing a top of the seventh run before stormy weather arrived. The action resumed in the bottom of the seventh, which resulted in a 1-2-3 inning.
In extra innings, the Trojans stranded a runner in the eighth before the WolfPack did the same after a leadoff single from
Cassie Coffey.Â
In the ninth, Triton College had two runners on with two outs when their catcher delivered a crutch double to center, scoring two runs for a 3-1 advantage. Madison College; however, was retired in ornder with a pair of strikeouts and a pop fly to end the game.
Coffey, a freshman from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, finished with two hits.
Sadie Svendsen had a hit and a run batted in, while
Hanna Stremkowski posted a hit and a run scored.Â
Second year pitcher
Lauryn Etienne (9-3) completed her start from two weeks prior in the loss. She amassed nine innings of work and 11 strikeouts to match her season-best, giving her four games with double-digit strikeouts. She was tagged for three runs, one of which was earned, on four hits and a walk.
Game #2: Triton College 5, Madison College 2
In the second game, the WolfPack took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Freshman
Kelsey Meverden opened the frame with a line drive double to left, which was followed by a bunt single from fellow first year
Addie Fritts. Pinch runner
Jeneya Marquez Perez then began a double steal, resulting in Meverden stealing home. An error on the next ball put in play by
Hanna Stremkowski allowed Marquez Perez to cross home.
Triton College (21-16) quickly responded with a three-run top of the third inning. The Trojans produced three hits and drew two walks, while the Pack aided with an error as they fell behind 3-2.
Madison College had an opportunity to score in the home half of the third with the bases loaded and one out, but failed to produce a run.Â
The Trojans added some breathing room in the seventh with two runs on two hits and an error to make it 5-2.Â
Sophomore
Lauryn Etienne (9-4) took her second loss of the day after pitching three innings. The former Oregon HS athlete allowed two earned runs of three scored, allowed four hits and three walks, and struck out three batters. Freshman
Sophie Golembiewski took over for the final four innings and was tagged for two runs, one of which was earned, on three hits. She also fanned one hitter.
Cassie Coffey led the team in hitting for the second straight game, going 2 for 3. Four other players had a hit in the game, including fellow first year
Kelsey Meverden with a hit and a run scored.

Madison College (18-16) will qualify for the Region 4 Tournament, which will begin with four-team quarterfinal tournaments on May 1-2. The tournaments will be hosted by the top four seeds. Brackets, seeds, pairings, and game times will be announced on Wednesday.
