MADISON, WISC. - The pattern was quite clear over the weekend's six-game homestand in which the Madison College softball team split three straight doubleheaders, winning the opening game in all three instances at
Robert D. Goodman Softball Field. The WolfPack defeated Moraine Valley Community College 5-3 before the Cyclones took the finale 9-3, which puts the all-time series at 5-2 in favor of the Pack. In between games, Madison College Athletics celebrated Sophomore Day and recognized the 11-member Class of 2026, which included

Shelby Brooks,
Bertina Dodge,
Lauryn Etienne,
Jeneya Marquez Perez,
Bailey Mester,
Hayden Schabel,
Raegen Schwarz, Tori Slaughter,
Hanna Stremkowski, and
Macie Studzinski.
Game #1: Madison College 5, Moraine Valley Community College 3
The visiting Cyclones used one swing to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning was the second batter of the game send a
Lauryn Etienne offering over the left field fence. Madison College pulled even in the second inning with three singles that resulted in a run. Rightfielder
Bailey Mester singled to left to plate
Haleigh Benisch after the freshman led off with a base hit.
Two innings later, the WolfPack went ahead 3-1 with a two-out rally. After a
Dalana Trumpy single, Mester ripped a triple to the right field corner to give the Pack the lead.
Shelby Brooks then followed with a single to left to score Mester.
The lead held until the sixth when MVCC hit another solo home run, followed by three consecutive base hits to tie the game at 3-3. However, Madison College answered in the home half with two more singles from Mester and Brooks to put runners on for freshman
Cathryn Zegadlo. The Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, native, delivered with a clutch double to center to plate Mester. Brooks eventually crossed home on a fielder's choice grounder from Schabel to make it 5-3.
Etienne worked a 1-2-3 top of the seventh to earn her third straight win and improve to 9-2 on the season. The native of Oregon, Wisconsin, struck out eight batters over seven innings, while giving up two earned runs on nine hits.
Mester and Brooks both finished 3 for 3 in the game. Mester, a native of Belmont, Wisconsin, led the team with two runs scored and two runs batted in.
Trumpy recorded her second two-hit game of the season, resulting in a run scored. Benisch also scored a run with one hit and a walk. Brooks added a RBI and a run scored. Zegadlo and Schabel each had a hit and a run batted in.
Game #2: Moraine Valley Community College 9, Madison College 3
The day's second game was close until Moraine Valley Community College (22-14) broke it open with a seven-run inning. The Cyclones again scored one run in the top of the first thanks to three consecutive base hits against starter
Gretta Lewis. Madison College responded with a two-out, run-scoring single from third baseman
Hanna Stremkowski, bringing in
Sadie Svendsen.
A two-out single by MVCC in the second also resulted in a run as the Cyclones regained a one-run advantage. In the bottom of the third, the WolfPack made it 2-2 with some small ball.
Hayden Schabel was hit by a pitch to open the frame, moved to second on a walk of
Macie Studzinski, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Stremkowski, and then scored via a sac fly off the bat of first baseman
Bertina Dodge.
The game turned in the fourth when Moraine Valley used seven hits, one walk, and three steals to rack up seven runs and take a commanding 9-2 lead. Dodge was able to add one run in the fifth inning as Svendsen raced in from third during a fielder's choice double play that ended the inning.
Mester again led the team with a pair of hits as she finished the day with five hits. Stremkowski also had two hits as the native of Stevens Points, Wisconsin, drove in one run. Svendsen finished with a hit and a walk, resulting in a team-leading two runs scored.
Madison College used a trio of arms to get through the game. Lewis pitched three innings and allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk, while striking out one. Golembiewski (2-6) was unable to record an out as she faced six batters and allowed six runs on five hits and a walk.
Kelsey Meverden tossed the final four innings and limited MVCC to a run on three hits. She also struck out one batter.

Madison College (18-14) was scheduled to play a Region 4 doubleheader on Monday, April 27 at McHenry County College (7-16); however, the games were canceled due to forecasted severe weather. The WolfPack will wrap up the 2026 regular season on Tuesday, April 28 against Triton College (19-16) as the two teams will resume a suspended game from April 14 that was tied 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh. After the conclusion of the game, the team's will complete the twin bill with a full, seven-inning game
