Opened in Spring 2017 as part of the Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Sports Complex, the Robert D. Goodman Softball Field is a state-of-the-art facility for softball players from Madison and around the country. It features a 100% synthetic turf playing surface, the first of its kind in collegiate softball. Field dimensions are 200 feet down the lines and 225 feet to the center field fence.

The complex features a player clubhouse and locker room, spacious dugouts featuring radiant heat, two synthetic turf batting cages, a coaches office, and an athletic training room. The latest technology is in use for field lighting, scoreboard display, public address and music sound systems, a spacious field-level pressbox, and WiFi connectivity. The field is 225 feet to centerfield and 200 feet down each foul line.

Spectators can enjoy the action from any of the 500 bleacher seats with seat backs in the elevated grandstand or standing along different areas of the concourse (expandable to 1,100 with temporary outfield seating). All events and tournaments will utilize the entry plaza with ticket booth window and informational display areas, as well as large restrooms and full-service concessions stand.
