WolfPack softball finally plays, sweeps Kishwaukee

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Finally, after seven straight outings were canceled, the Madison College softball team competed in their first games since their spring trip. Visiting Kishwaukee College Sunday, the WolfPack would pick up a sweep of the Kougars, winning 2-0 and 6-3.

Game one, the 'Pack got the job done on only six hits. In the second inning, Brianna Wagner singled to center to score Karlie Ganzer. Still up 1-0 in the seventh and final inning, Megan Hanke singled to left to plate Hailey Simpson.

Meanwhile, Bridget Jost was stellar on the mound for Madison College. Jost threw all seven innings, allowed just six hits and struck out five.

Game two, the WolfPack would carry-over their success from the initial outing. The team scored three runs combined in the first two innings.

Leading 1-0 in the second, following an Andrea Lawrence run via a Kishwaukee error in the first, Lawrence singled to right to bring Kasey Gutzmer to the plate. Two batters later, Paige Giese singled to left to score Brianna Wagner.

The 'Pack would score three more times in the fourth. Megan Hanke hit a sac fly to get Hailey Simpson across the dish, Lawrence would score on a passed ball and Karlie Ganzer singled to center to allow Hanke to touch home.

From there it was smooth sailing for Madison College. Giese garnered the win for the WolfPack. Giese threw five and one-third innings, gave up four hits, struck out four and allowed just one earned run in the 6-3 victory.

Madison College (7-10) will compete in their first conference doubleheader tomorrow when they host Harper College beginning at 3 p.m.
