Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 With postseason play set to start next week, the Madison College softball team couldn't have asked for a better ending to their regular season. Saturday, playing two five-inning games, the WolfPack swept McHenry County College by scores of 5-0 and 7-2.

Game one, things got off to a slow start. Through three innings neither team was able to score. However, Madison College would explode in the fourth, scoring all five of their runs.

Hailey Simpson started the scoring, ripping a triple to left field to score Kasey Gutzmer and Michelle Francois. The very next batter, Andrea Lawrence, then hit a sac fly to push the score to 3-0 WolfPack. The game's final two runs would be scored on a pair of singles by Paige Giese and Nicole Hoffmann, which brought in Megan Hanke and Giese, respectively.

Paige Weber picked up the shutout win for Madison College. Weber threw all five innings, giving up only four hits and striking out two batters.

Game two, the Scots would take an early 1-0 lead into the second. However, Madison College would once again come through with a big inning.

Trailing 1-0 in the second, the WolfPack would rip McHenry County for seven runs in the inning. First, Austin Abbott singled to left to score Karlie Ganzer, tying the game at one. Hailey Simpson then singled to bring in Bridget Jost and Abbott.

Up 3-1, Megan Hanke hit a single to left to plate Brianna Wagner and Simpson. Finally, two batters later, a double by Ganzer would plate Hanke and Paige Giese, putting the WolfPack up 7-1. From there, the game was all but over.

Paige Giese picked up the game two win for the 'Pack. Giese threw all five innings, giving up eight hits and one earned run.

Madison College (19-21, 8-10) will now wait to find out who their opening round opponent for the NJCAA Region IV tournament will be. A play-in game will be held Tuesday, with the actual tournament beginning Friday.
