WolfPack softball team can't silence Chaparrals

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The College of DuPage has been a tough riddle for the Madison College softball team to crack this season. Friday, the Chaparrals picked up the regular season sweep of the WolfPack, besting Madison College by scores of 5-4 and 5-1.

Game one, Kasey Gutzmer gave the 'Pack a lead in the fourth inning. Her double to left to bring in Nicole Hoffmann put the WolfPack up 2-1.

With Madison College still leading 2-1 in the sixth, Brandi Riess came through for the College of DuPage. Riess stole third and scored on a throwing error by WolfPack catcher Brianna Wagner. The game would head to extra innings tied 2-2.

Unfortunately, the Chaparrals offense got a second win in the 10th inning. The College of DuPage poured in three runs to take a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the inning.

Try though they might, the three-run hole was too much for Madison College to climb out of. While the WolfPack added two more runs, coming off a pair of fielder's choices, they would fall 5-4.

Paige Weber (5-9) was charged with the loss for the WolfPack. Weber threw two innings, giving up three earned runs.

Game two, no extra innings were needed, but it still went the Chaparrals way. Before Madison College was even on the board, the College of DuPage had scored four runs.

The only WolfPack run in the outing came off the bat of Nicole Hoffmann. Her single to center in the sixth cut the Chaparrals lead to 4-1. However, another College of DuPage run scored in the seventh would result in the final score of 5-1.
