Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 The Madison College baseball team opened their doubleheader with the College of Lake County on a high note Tuesday, winning game one by the score of 5-3. However, before it was over the Lancers would have their revenge, snapping the WolfPack's six-game win streak with a 1-0 victory.
Game one, one big inning by the 'Pack would prove to be all that was needed. With neither team on the board, Madison College would collect four runs on four hits in the third inning.
First,
Keith Browning singled to right to score
Danny Krause. That was followed immediately by
Dan Schmidt bringing in
Sam Hurt, with his own single to right. Up 3-0, following a
Luke Yapp sacrifice to plate Browning,
Luke Syens singled to third to allow Schmidt to touch home.
The Lancers would answer with a combined three runs in the third and fourth. However, it wouldn't be enough for the College of Lake County. The WolfPack would add one more run, as
Joe Stubbe scored following a fielder's choice, just for good measure.
Calen Rohrman (2-1) picked up the victory for the 'Pack. Rohrman threw four innings, allowing just four hits and three earned runs.
Game two, the tide turned in the Lancers favor. Madison College had six hits during the back end of the doubleheader, but couldn't produce even a single run.
With no score in the eighth, Blake Bucsa came through with a walk-off single to right to score Jared Helmich. The hit came with two outs, immediately after a WolfPack error.
Michael Pleimling (2-1) was charged with the loss. Pleimling threw one and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and one unearned run.
