Pleimling pitches no-hitter, WolfPack sweeps Kishwaukee

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 He was unhittable, literally. Wednesday, Madison College freshman pitcher Michael Pleimling threw the team's second no-hitter in 2014, helping the WolfPack to a two game sweep of Kishwaukee College. Madison College won by scores of 12-0 and 9-2.

Game one, Pleimling got some early run support from his teammates. Luke Syens singled in the first to score Danny Krause, followed by a Kishwaukee error in the second which allowed Brandon Gibis to touch home. After two complete, the 'Pack was up 2-0.

Kishwaukee College would continue to hurt itself in the third and fourth innings. Two more errors, one in each inning, would result in an additional four runs for Madison College. The WolfPack would lead it 6-0 after four.

After Krause singled in the fifth to bring in Sam Hurt, the 'Pack would put the finishing touches on the game in the sixth. Leading 7-0, the team would explode for five additional runs in what would prove to be their final inning at-bat.

Following an error and a free pass home on a walk, resulting in two more Madison College runs, Liam Kellogg drove in Gibis and Dan Schmidt helped score Grant Alderman on a single to center. The team's final run was scored as Keith Browning reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Pete Hofman to come home.

When Kishwaukee failed to score in the bottom of the sixth, the 12-0 mercy was sealed. Pleimling's final stat line read six innings pitched, no hits, no runs, two walks and five strikeouts.

Game two, the WolfPack would once again start out strong, getting two runs in the first inning. After Courtney Watkins would score on a Kougars error, Luke Yapp's single to short brought in Keith Browning.

Madison College managed two more runs in the third inning. Mike Jordahl's single down the first base line scored Watkins. Then, a Dylan Detert sac fly got Browning across the dish to make it 4-0.

Leading 5-0 in the fifth, the 'Pack would put forth their best offensive effort of the game. The team added four more runs, the last two off the bat of Watkins, who singled to center to bring home Hurt and Krause.

Meanwhile, Schmidt had a solid outing on the mound for Madison College in their 9-2 victory. Schmidt threw five strong innings, giving up just three hits and zero earned runs, all while striking out four batters.

The WolfPack (12-5, 2-0) have now won eight straight games. Tomorrow, beginning at 5:30 p.m., the team will compete against the University of Wisconsin club team in their home opener.
