Box Score 2 The Madison College baseball team let one slip Thursday. Visiting Waubonsee Community College, the WolfPack saw the Chiefs win 1-0 via a squeeze bunt, before taking it to them 7-1 in game two.
Game one, Madison College actually finished with more hits than Waubonsee, but it was the Chiefs who came up with the timeliest one. With no score, the bases loaded and one out, Jarret Clark bunted one to WolfPack relief pitcher
Dan Schmidt to score pinch runner Gered Bales from third.
The WolfPack finished with seven hits to Waubonsee's five, but it wasn't enough for the 'Pack.
Rex Morrow (3-2) was charged with the loss. Morrow threw eight and one-third innings, allowing just four hits and the lone run, while striking out five batters.
Game two, a frustrated WolfPack got their revenge. After being blanked in game one, the team scored a combined four runs in the opening three innings of the doubleheader's back end.
Madison College collected three of the game's first four runs off RBI doubles. In the first,
Mike Jordahl opened the scoring with a double to left to score
Luke Yapp. Yapp then doubled in the second to bring in
Dan Schmidt, while another Jordahl double allowed Yapp to touch home.
Leading 4-0 in the sixth,
Sam Hurt scored on a wild pitch to push the WolfPack lead to five. He then doubled in the seventh to plate Jordahl and watch the lead grow to 6-0. A
Danny Krause single to center field in the seventh would score the team's final run, which came in the form of Hurt.
The Chiefs would score their lone run of the game in the bottom of the seventh.
Corey Fischer (5-1) grabbed the game two victory. Fischer pitched five innings, struck out six, and gave up just two hits and zero runs.
