Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 They've been solid all season long, but the Madison College baseball team had one of those days they'd like to forget Thursday. The WolfPack was swept for the first time this season, losing at Oakton Community College 3-2 and 6-3.
Game one, the teams played even baseball through the first two innings. Madison College scored one run in both the first and second inning, with the Raiders doing the exact same.
Luke Syens opened the scoring for the 'Pack, hitting a sac fly in the first to score
Danny Krause. After Oakton evened things up in the bottom of the first, Krause struck back for the WolfPack in the second. Krause's double to right brought in
Dylan Detert, putting Madison College back on top 2-1.
The Raiders would once again respond in the bottom half of the inning. Andrew Korosic's single allowed Tyler Albright to touch home plate, evening the score at 2-2.
The game remained tied at two until the sixth inning. There, with one out and two on, a Brent Feldner single would score the game-winning run in the form of Sean Eder.
Rex Morrow took the loss for Madison College. Morrow threw all six innings, giving up nine hits and the three runs.
Game two, the 'Pack would dig itself an early hole, allowing Oakton to score two runs in the opening frame. Madison College would come right back in the top of the second though. First,
Dylan Detert would triple to right to bring in
Brandon Gibis, followed immediately by a
Courtney Watkins fielder's choice which scored Detert.
The Raiders would regain the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Adam Warda's two-run home run put Oakton back up 4-2. From there, they'd never lose the lead.
Madison College scored it's only other run in the seventh, already trailing 6-2. A sac fly by Detert would plate Gibis.
Marcellus Sneed was charged with the loss. Sneed threw four innings, giving up six hits and four earned runs.
The WolfPack (17-9, 4-0) will resume conference play Saturday when they visit Joliet Junior College. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for noon.
