WolfPack baseball's three-game win streak snapped

Box Score After three straight victories against one team, Williston State College (N.D.), the Madison College baseball team's win streak in Arizona was broken up by Arizona Christian University JV. The WolfPack just barely fell to the Firestorm, losing 11-10 in the single nine-inning affair.

Arizona Christian put the 'Pack in an early hole, scoring three runs over the first two innings of play. However, Madison would score four of their own in the fifth to take the 4-3 lead.

In the fourth, Travis Hamilton started the WolfPack scoring with a single to right to score Luke Syens, Brandn Gibis would touch home on the play as well.

Two more Madison College runs would come home in the fifth. A Dan Schmidt ground out would plate Pete Hofman, prior to a Keith Browning single scoring Danny Krause.

Over the fina four innings, the 'Pack would push six more runs across the plate. Their biggest inning being the seventh, where they scored three. Browning tripled to bring in Schmidt, followed immediately by a Syens triple to score Browning, and finally a Brandon Gibis sac fly allowed Syens to touch home. The scoreboard read 8-5 Madison College after six and a half innings of play.

The WolfPack lead grew to 10-6 in the top of the ninth, with Hamilton hitting a single to center to score Courtney Watkins. Unfortunately, the team was unable to hold that four-run lead in the game's final half-inning.

Madison College gave up five runs in the final frame, which resulted in their 11-10 demise. Leading 10-9 with two outs, a costly error would allow two members of the Firestorm to cross the plate and end the game.

The error was one of five for the WolfPack in the game. The mistakes ended up denying them a win despite collecting 15 hits. Syens led the 'Pack offense, going three-for-five at the plate, driving in a run and scoring twice.

Ryne Blanton was charged with the loss for Madison College. He lasted just one-third of an inning, allowing just a single run.

The WolfPack (4-3) will play one nine-inning game against Seminole State College (Okla.) Wednesday at 4 p.m.
