Good start, bad ending for WolfPack baseball versus Glendale

Box Score Saturday afternoon, playing in just their third game of the 2014 season, the Madison College baseball team got off to a nice start against Glendale Community College, scoring three runs in the game's first inning. However, from that point forward, not much else went right, as the WolfPack would go on to fall by the final score of 15-5.

Early mistakes by the Gauchos in the first frame would pay off for Madison College, as David Luciani and Dan Schmidt scored on a pair of wild pitches. The other WolfPack run in the inning came on a fielder's choice off the bat of Matt Cole.

Glendale would answer back immediately in the bottom of the first. A single, triple and deep fly out to left field resulted in a 4-3 Gauchos lead.

From that point on, Madison College didn't do itself any favors, compiling six errors over the final six innings of play. Meanwhile, Glendale Community College scored three runs in the third, two in the fourth, and three in the fifth and seventh innings.

Dan Schmidt and Luke Syens scored the final two runs of the game for the 'Pack in the third and sixth, respectively. Madison College finished with just five hits in the game, compared to 10 for the Gauchos.

Calen Rohrman took the loss for Madison. Rohrman allowed six earned runs in three innings of work, walking one and striking out three.

The WolfPack (1-2) will look to snap their two-game losing streak Monday when they take on Williston State College (N.D.) in a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m.
