Box Score Wednesday evening, the Madison College women's soccer team suffered a disappointing 4-0 loss to Rock Valley College. Tonight, the team responded well from the defeat, besting Triton College 4-1 at Warner Park to claim the fourth win in their last five games.
Elizabeth Conejo, who's been a premiere player for the WolfPack all season long, had another stellar showing for Madison College. In the victory, Conejo registered a hat-trick and an assist, meaning she was a part of every single scoring play for the 'Pack.
In the first half, Conejo found the back of the net in the 17th and 25th minute, giving Madison College an early two goal cushion. Surprisingly, goalkeeper
Stephanie Myszkowski picked up the assist on goal number one, while
Stina Seaberg helped out Conejo on goal two. Triton College would cut their deficit to 2-1, beating Myszkowski in minute 36, but the WolfPack would answer back almost immediately.
Just over a minute later, Conejo found
Tynia Goldensoph for the third Madison College goal. Goldensoph's goal gave the 'Pack a 3-1 edge heading into the halftime break.
Both teams would cool down in the second half, as only one more goal was scored in the final 45 minutes. The third and final goal needed for Conejo's hat-trick came in the 63rd minute.
Miho Frankowski was credited with the final assist of the game.
Offensively, the WolfPack outshot the Trojans 22-14, but actually finished with one less attempt on net. Myszkowski made 10 saves for Madison College in the win.
Next up, the WolfPack (4-5-1, 3-4) will travel to College of DuPage Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game against the Chaparrals. College of DuPage defeated Madison College earlier this season 6-1.
