SUGAR GROVE, ILL. - It took the Madison College women's soccer team a little while to find the net in Saturday's Region 4 clash at Waubonsee Community College; however, once they did, the WolfPack rolled to a lopsided 7-0 win to close out the regular season. Sophomore
Emlyn Knutson and freshman
Roos Zwolschen each scored two goals in the win, which gives the Pack a five-match unbeaten streak heading into the postseason and double-digit wins for the second time in three years under head coach
Logan Fye. Madison College is also a perfect 6-0 all-time against the Chiefs.
The scoreless tie was broken in the 28' when freshman
Aubrey Reesman found midfielder
Zoey Lovejoy wide open on the left side of the penalty area and the sophomore chipped a goal over the Waubonsee Community College (3-8-3) goalkeeper. It's the second goal this season for the Belleville, Wisconsin, native.
Four minutes later, the WolfPack went ahead 2-0 on a goal by sophomore
Kylie Hellenbrand. The Chiefs failed to clear the ball after a first year
Leslie De La Portilla placed a pass into the penalty area from the end line. Hellebrand intercepted the ball and buried a deep shot past the keeper for the third goal of the year by the native of Cross Plains, Wisconsin.
Madison College exploded for five more goals in the second half. Zwolschen found Knutson atop the half circle, and after a quick to evade a defender, she beat the goalkeeper with a low shot towards the left post in the 48'. In the 51', Reesman put a cross near the penalty shot dot, where Zwolschen controlled and scored to make it 4-0.
Freshman
Emma Koziel netted her first collegiate goal in the 76' as she outran a pair of WCC players after a nice pass up the pitch from
Maddie Ludwig, giving the Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, native, a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. She scored easily as the keeper came sliding in. Zwolschen secured her team-leading 11th goal of the season and third two-goal game of the year with another long blast from well outside the 18. The midfielder/forward secured a loose ball on a failed clear and bent a shot inside the left post. Just over a minute later, the Pack capped the scoring with Knutson's second scoring strike. Sophomore
Emmy Coe Troup earned an assist as her pass to the top of the penalty area landed at the feet of Knutson, and the former Sun Prairie East HS athlete posted her seventh goal in 2026 and her second game with two or more goals.
Madison College dominated the ball and registered a sizable 45-1 advantage in total shots and a 34-1 differential in shots on goal. Knutson and Hellebrand were tops with eight shots overall. Knutson's seven shots on goal led all players, followed by five each from Hellebrand and Zwolschen. The goalkeeper duo of
Arabella Penfold and
Markiya Uherka combined for the clean sheet, the eighth this season for the WolfPack. Penfold collected the team's lone save.
