WolfPack men can't shoot down Hawks

Box Score Halfway through their conference season, the Madison College men's basketball team is hoping to turn things around on the back end of their schedule. After Wednesday's 92-62 loss at Harper College, the WolfPack sits 1-6 in North Central Community College Conference (N4C) play.

Madison College had a tough time defensively against the Hawks. Five Harper players scored in double figures, as the 'Pack put the Hawks on the free throw line often. Harper finished the game with 29 makes from the charity stripe on 39 attempts (74 percent).

Corey McGowan led the WolfPack offensively, finishing with a game-high 19 points. However, the team hit just 33 percent of their shots in the first half, leading to a 13 point deficit at the break.

Things only got worse for Madison College in the second half. The Hawks knocked down 61 percent of their shots after the halftime break, outscoring the WolfPack 52-35 in the game's final 20 minutes.

Madison College finished the game with 23 turnovers, leading to 27 Harper College points.

The WolfPack (4-17, 1-6) will begin their second half of the conference season on the road against Triton College Saturday. Earlier this season, the Trojans beat Madison 69-53. Triton used a big second half, hitting 57 percent of their shots, to run away from the 'Pack in the first contest.
