Box Score Madison College received early offense and a good outing from starter
Cody Peterson to earn their second win of the 2013 NJCAA Divison II World Series. The win earned the WolfPack a matchup with Scottsdale Community College tomorrow at 3:30 PM.
The WolfPack scored six of their nine runs in the first two innings to get off to a fast start. Madison College posted five hits in those first two innings including a
Bryce Barsness triple in the top of the second inning that scored
Greg Rhude and
Danny Krause. The WolfPack added three more runs in the top of the seventh on a
Dan Schmidt inside-the-park homerun down the left field line.
Bryce Barsness and
Ryan McShane scored on the homerun.
The Raiders scored one run in the bottom of the seventh but it was not enough as Madison College beat Grand Rapids Community College 9-1 on run rule.
Bryce Barsness finished the game 2-for-2 with two RBIs while leadoff hitter,
Danny Krause, was 2-for-3.
Nathan Pollock and
Dan Schmidt each had multiple RBI games with two and three RBIs, respectively. On the mound,
Cody Peterson posted the second straight complete game for the WolfPack scattering five hits and one earned run over seven innings of work. Peterson had 22 out of 26 first-pitch strikes while recording 56 strikes total out of his 80 pitches.
The second win of the World Series advanced Madison College to play Scottsdale Community College tomorrow at 3:30 PM.
