Box Score 2 The College of DuPage Chaparrals didn't play the best hosts to the Madison College softball team as they swept the WolfPack (4-7, 1-4) in a N4C conference doubleheader in Glen Ellyn, IL on Friday, April 5.
With the score tied at 0-0 after two innings in the first game of the doubleheader, the College of DuPage scored solo runs in both the bottom of the third and fourth innings, before taking a commanding 7-0 lead by scoring five runs in their half of the fifth. Madison College did get on the board and avoided the shutout by scoring four runs in the seventh, but the mini offensive barrage wasn't enough. Leadoff hitter
Michelle Farino,
Jordan Bell,
Marissa Shaner, and
Lana Teisberg all managed two hits apiece in the game that saw the 'Pack belt out 11 hits overall. Unfortunately, Madison College stranded six runners on base in the loss.
Andrea Lawrence,
Megan Hanke, and
Jordan Bell all belted doubles in the loss in Illinois, and
Andrea Lawrence recorded three of the team's four RBI.
Samantha Schuchardt started and finished the game for the 'Pack, and was saddled with the loss. Schuchardt threw six innings, gave up 13 hits, seven runs (6 earned) and recorded five strikeouts as she fell to 3-4 on the year.
In game two in Glen Ellyn, Madison scored first but DuPage plated four unanswered runs on their way to the 4-1 win over the 'Pack.
Second baseman
Megan Hanke finished the day 2-for-3 with 'Packs lone RBI, while
Jordan Bell and
Julie Austin recorded the other two hits in Madison's four hit day.
Starter
Marissa Shaner started the game on the bump and picked up the loss after surrendering four runs in five innings.
Paige Weber finished the game and threw the last inning, a scoreless frame.
The 7-11 WolfPack look to pick up two conference wins tomorrow, when they host the Harper College Hawks. The first game of the N4C conference doubleheader starts at 12:00 PM.
