Box Score 2 The Madison College baseball team picked up two blowout road wins on April 4 by defeating the Highland Community College Cougars 18-5 and 13-0 in Freeport, IL.
In game one, Madison College scored 13 runs in the first four innings before putting up five more in the seventh.
Danny Krause led the team with three hits by going 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored, and two other members of the 'Pack added two of Madison's 12 hits.
Shane Adler and
Bryce Barsness pitched in two RBI, and
Rex Morrow scored three runs and
Joe Stubbe scored four times. Barness picked up both of his RBI on his two-run triple.
Calen Rohrman started on the mound for the 'Pack and he tossed sixth effective innings as he improved two 2-0 on the year. In six innings, Rohrman allowed five hits and allowed five runs, but none of them were earned.
Hayden Hughey pitched one inning of hitless and scoreless relief for the WolfPack.
In the 13-0 shutout in the nightcap of the doubleheader, Madison College was held somewhat in check (3 runs in the second inning) through the first three innings before exploding for six and four runs in the fourth and fifth. The WolfPack recorded 13 hits to go with their 13 runs, and the team was aided by four Highland errors.
David Luciani and
Danny Krause led the team with three hits apiece, and
Joe Stubbe and
Dylan Detert added two apiece. Luciani also led the team with three RBI, recorded the team's lone extra base hit with his fourth inning double, and he was one of five WolfPack that scored two times.
Jameson Sadowske went the distance for the WolfPack in the shortened game. He tossed five stellar innings, while only giving up four hits and one walk while striking out five.
Next up for the baseball team is a trip to River Grove, IL for a N4C doubleheader on April 6 against the Triton College Trojans. The first game starts at 12:00 PM.
