Box Score 2 The Madison College softball team picked up two much needed wins by defeating the Harper College Hawks 7-4, 11-3 in Madison, WI on April 7. The two conference wins boost Madison's N4C record to 4-6 and 9-11 overall.
The WolfPack scored three runs in the opening inning of game one, but the Hawks scored runs in the scond and third innings to tie it at 3-3. Madison College got the sticks going again with two runs in the sixth, and the 'Pack held on for the 7-4 win after allowing one Hawk run in the final frame.
Megan Hanke put up a team leading three hits, and
Jordan Bell and starting pitcher
Marissa Shaner each added two hits. Shaner was the leader with two runs scored, and the six team RBI were spread out between six players. Of Madison's 10 hits, 4 were extra base knocks, and the team was led by
Heather Edgren's sixth inning triple.

Andrea Lawrence,
Marissa Shaner,
Megan Hanke, and
Lana Teisberg all added stolen bases.
Starter
Marissa Shaner recorded her third win of the season to improve to 3-3 on the year. She scattered six hits and allowed four runs (3 earned), while striking out eight in the win.
In the second game against Harper, Madison made big strides on offense as they made no doubt about the outcome by scoring one run in the first, six runs in the second, three in the third, and one more in the fifth inning to end the game after five frames.
Jordan Bell was just one of the offensive heroes for the WolfPack as she recorded three hits to finish 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored. Bell was just one of three other members of the 'Pack that finished with three hits as
Michelle Farino,
Andrea Lawrence, and
Megan Hanke all joined in on the hit parade. The foursome finished with 12 of the WolfPack's 15 hits. Besides Bell's team leading four RBI,
Megan Hanke added three of her own,
Julie Austin pitched in two, and
Andrea Lawrence finished with one. Lawrence also scored three times to tie Bell in that category and
Madison Milsap scored twice. Milsap also added a double, and
Michelle Farino and
Megan Hanke both added stolen bases.
Samantha Schuchardt started and went the distance in the abbreviated game to pick up her team leading fourth win. She struckiout two in five innings and surrendered seven hits and allowed four runs.
Next up for the 9-11 WolfPack is a doubleheader against Triton College on April 18 in River Grove, IL. The N4C games are pivotal for the 'Pack as a clean sweep will even out their N4C record at 6-6.
