Baseball's Offensive Display Downs Prairie State

Box Score Madison College Baseball bats came alive in a 18-7 rout of Prairie State College on Wednesday in Auburndale, FL.  The WolfPack had 18 hits and 18 runs in support of starting pitcher, Calen Rohrman, who earned his first win of the season.

The WolfPack got on the scoreboard early scoring seven runs on eight hits in the bottom of the first inning. Prairie State hung around until the sixth inning when Madison College posted four runs and followed up that inning with a five run seventh to claim the 18-7 victory.

Twelve WolfPack batters had at least one hit including four batters with multiple hits, including Danny Krause (2-for-4), Greg Rhude (2-for-2), Shane Adler (3-for-4) and Luke Syens (3-for-5).  Luke Syens, Ryan McShane and Evan Richarz each posted two RBIs while Shane Adler had two doubles out of the WolfPack's season high eight.  Luke Syens hit the game's only home run in the seventh inning scoring Evan Richarz.

On the mound, Calen Rohrman pitched five and one third innings, striking out two, walking two and giving up four earned runs on four hits.  Rohrman earned his first win of the season.  Hayden Hughey pitched an inning and two-thirds in relief, walking three, and surrending one earned run on three hits.

With the win, the WolfPack improve to 5-4 on the season and 4-3 on the spring trip. The team faces the Detroit Tigers minor league team in Lakeland, FL on Thursday at 1:00 PM.
