WolfPack Softball Splits with Rainy River Community College

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Madison College Softball team split a pair of games (5-1, 2-11) against Rainy River Community College on Tuesday in Titusville, FL.

In game one of the doubleheader the WolfPack fell behind 1-0 in the third inning and rallied back with two runs in each of the next two innings. WolfPack starter, Samantha Schuchardt, earned the victory by pitching a complete game, striking out one, walking three and giving up just one earned run on seven hits.

Madison College tacked on another run in the top of the seventh to win 5-1 and push their overall record to 4-3.

Andrea Lawrence led all WolfPack batters going 3-for-4.  Michelle Farino and Jordan Bell each had multiple hit days while Jordan Bell and Madison Milsap each had doubles. Megan Hanke hit the game's only triple in the fifth inning scoring Hailey Hovland.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the WolfPack were tied 1-1 going into the bottom of the third inning when Rainy River scored five runs on five hits.  The Voyageurs followed up their five run third inning with a five run fourth to put the game out of reach.  The WolfPack managed one run in the fifth but could not avoid the run rule and the game was called in the fifth inning.

The WolPack managed just three hits on the game.  Megan Hanke, Jodee Taylor and Lana Teisberg were the only Madison College players with hits.  Tesha Peer received the loss as she pitched three and one third innings, giving up eight earned runs on nine hits and four walks. Julie Austin pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief giving up two earned runs on four hits.

The loss pushed the WolfPack's record back to .500.  Madison College will face Elgin Community College and SUNY-Purchase JV tomorrow in a doubleheader in Titusville, FL.  Wednesday's doubleheader will be the team's final two games of their Florida spring trip.
