WolfPack Softball Falls to Prairie State Before Storm

Box Score The WolfPack Softball team fell 4-3 to Prairie State College in what was supposed to be the first game of a doubleheader.  The second game was halted in the top of the fourth inning before a bad storm rolled into the area.

In the first game, Madison College fell behind in the first inning as the Pioneers scored three runs.  The Pionners extended their lead to 4-0 in the bottom half of the third inning before the WolfPack answered with one run in the fifth.  Madison College added two runs in the top of the sixth inning but that is as close as they got, falling 4-3 in seven innings.

First year infielder from Beloit, Jordan Bell, continued her hot hitting as she was the only WolfPack player with two hits as she went 2-for-4.  Michelle Farino, Andrea Lawrence and Brianna Wagner each had one hit as Madison College had five hits for the game.

Starter Samantha Schuchardt received the loss as she gave up three earned runs, three walks and one hit.  Paige Weber came into the game after Schuchardt and pitched five innings, striking out four, walking three and giving up just one earned run.  Marissa Shaner also pitched one shutout inning.

With the loss the team falls to 2-3 and will face the same team, Prairie State College on Tuesday at 9:00 AM in Titusvile, FL.  In addition to the 9:00 AM game against Prairie State College the WolfPack are supposed to play Rainy River Community College from Minnesota at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM as well.
