Browning Helps WolfPack Thrilling 4-3 Win Over Elgin

Box Score Keith Browning went 2-for-2 in the second game of the spring trip but that does little to tell the impact his two hits had on the game.  Browning's first hit, a solo home run, tied the game in the seventh inning and his single in the bottom of the ninth put him on base to score the winning run in a 4-3 extra innings victory over Elgin.

Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Keith Browning's lead-off solo home run tied the game and sent the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Browning reached first on a single to center field and scored on an error by Elgin's third basemen two batters later.

In addition to Browning's heroics, Dan Schmidt and Bryce Barsness each had a pair of hits in the 4-3 win over NJCAA Division II opponent, Elgin Community College.  On the mound, Dan Schmidt earned the win as he tossed two-thirds of an inning of shutout ball in relief, surrendering no hits.  First year starter, Nick Hoffmann pitched five innings, striking out four, walking four and giving up just one earned run.  Rex Morrow and Cody Peterson also combined for three and a third innings of work.

The win pushed the WolfPack's record to 2-2 overall as they look to face NJCAA Division II Southeast Community College from Nebraska in Auburndale, FL on Monday, March 25.
