Box Score 2 The Madison College Baseball team began their 2013 season with a win and then a loss in the their opening doubleheader with Kankakee Community College on Sunday, March 17 in Kankakee, IL. The WolfPack won the first game 3-0 before falling 2-0 in the second game.
In the first game of the doubleheader and the 2013 season, the WolfPack scored two runs in the third inning and added another run in the seventh to win 3-0 on six hits and seven combined shutout innings from
Cody Peterson and Nate Hoffmann.
Peterson struck out three batters and gave up just two hits in five innings of work to earn the win. First year pitcher, Nate Hoffmann pitched two innings in relief, striking out one and give up only two hits as well.
Ryan McShane,
Rex Morrow and
Nathan Pollock all had an RBI while second year infielder,
Taylor Carlson, went 1-for-1 and scored a run in the seventh.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the WolfPack could only manage three hits and no runs while Kankakee scored twice in the fifth inning to claim the 2-0 victory.
Ryan McShane,
David Luciani and
Luke Syens all had hits but Kankakee pitchers held the rest of the team at bay.
Second year Madison College pitcher,
Zach Ransom gave up four hits and two earned runs while striking out four and walking two in four and a third innings of work. First year righthanders,
Corey Fischer and
Calen Rohrman, also saw work, giving up only one hit in one and two-thirds innings.
The WolfPack will travel to Florida on Thursday and play on Friday in Port Richey, FL against Pasco-Hernando Community College at 3:00 PM.
