Men’s Basketball Closes Out Regular Season with Loss

Box Score The Harper College Hawks got the best of the visiting WolfPack on Saturday, February 23, defeating Madison 67-53 in the final game of the regular season. The Hawks held a small 37-32 halftime lead before putting away the visitors in the second half. Madison College finishes the regular season 5-25 and 2-12 in the N4C.

Madison hung tough in the first half behind strong shooting from the field (46.6%) and only trailed the host Hawks by five points at the break. The visitors actually outshot Harper who shot at a 42.2 percent clip, but the Hawks knocked down five first half three-point shots to Madison's one to claim the first half lead. The Hawks tightened up their defense in the second half and limited Madison to 8-of-26 shooting (30.7%) in the second half, and once again held a 12 point advantage beyond the arc in the frame. Although the two teams' final shooting percentages were nearly identical at the end of the game, Harper outscored Madison by 24 points in shots beyond the arc, and forced 23 WolfPack turnovers to their nine.

Jason Miller was the only member of the 'Pack that reached double figures as he paced the squad with 19 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the field. Adam Ruka, who led the team with 13 rebounds (9 offensive) was next on the team in scoring with nine points. Point guard Ryan Plaice led the team with four assists, hauled down five rebounds and led the team on defense with two blocks and two steals.

The 5-25 WolfPack travels to Milwaukee, WI for their playoff opening game on Wednesday, March 27. The team plays Milwaukee Area Technical College and the game starts at 7:00 PM.
