Men’s Basketball Suffers Narrow Defeat to Triton in N4C Opener

Box Score The Madison College men's basketball team, playing with five players, almost pulled out the N4C win over the Triton College Trojans on January 9 in River Grove, IL but the home team was too much for the visiting 'Pack and came out victorious, 74-68. The six point loss dropped Madison College's record to 2-14 overall and 0-1 in N4C play.

Triton used excellent shooting from the field in the first half, including beyond the arc, to cruise out to a 44 to 34 halftime lead. The Trojans shot 20-for-35 and 3-for-6 beyond the arc in what turned out to be a pivotal half. The WolfPack outshot the Trojans from both the field (45.1% to 28.5%) and from three-point range (37.5% to 11.1 %) to outscore Triton 34 to 30 in the second half, but the comeback fell short. Nearly all other statistics were identical for the two teams, except for second chance points and points off of turnovers, where Triton had the clear advantage as they wore down the WolfPack. Triton outrebounded the 'Pack by nine (42 to 33) and forced five more turnovers (15 to 10).

Jason Miller inflicted the most damage for the WolfPack in the close loss to Triton by scoring a career-high 39 points while hauling down 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.
