Box Score Madison College left no doubt as to who was the best team in the NJCAA Region IV Sectional Tournament final by scoring 12 runs on 14 hits to send the visiting College of Lake County Lancers packing. The WolfPack move on to the NJCAA Region IV Tournament hosted at Madison College next weekend.
After allowing one run in the top of the second inning the WolfPack offense answered to the tune of five runs over the next two innings. Starting pitcher
Tyler Thicke pitched well scattering seven hits and allowing three earned runs in seven and one-third innings of work. Thicke struck out five batters on his way to his fourth win of the season.
The WolfPack offense came alive again in the seventh and eighth innings tacking on some insurance runs with two runs in the seventh and five more in the eighth. The Lancers scored two runs in the eighth but could not get any closer as they lost their second game of the tournament and fell 12-3 in nine innings.
Five batters had two hits including
Luke Maldonado,
Landon Tenhagen,
Bryce Barsness,
Josh Rowles and
Nathan Pollock.
Landon Tenhagen and
Jake Page each added two RBIs as well. Tenhagen hit a home run in the eighth inning to record his two RBIs while teammate
Bryce Barsness tripled and scored on a throwing error by the right fielder in the same inning.

Shane Adler,
Cole Kroncke and
Cody Peterson also saw action in relief while the WolfPack moved on to the NJCAA Region IV Tournament hosted by the #1 seed, Madison College WolfPack next weekend (Friday-Sunday, May 18-20).
