Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 The Madison College baseball team couldn't have asked for more from sophomore outfielder
Landon Tenhagen on Sunday. Competing against Kankakee Community College in a doubleheader, Tenhagen hit a three-run homer in game one, and finished 4-for-7 with seven RBI. The result was a pair of wins over the Cavaliers, 10-5 and 4-3.
Game one, Tenhagen would put the 'Pack on the board in the first. A double to right would help to plate
Ryan McShane, and give Madison College the 1-0 lead. Despite the early success, the WolfPack would find themselves in a 3-1 hole come the bottom of the third inning. Then, the Madison College offense would really come alive. The 'Pack would score nine runs on six hits, and one error, including the previously mentioned three-run homer by
Landon Tenhagen.
Treysen Vavra,
Josh Rowles,
Beau Goff, and
Luke Maldonado also collected RBI in the inning. From there the WolfPack would easily hang on, finishing game one with the 10-5 victory.
Shane Adler (4-1) picked up the win for the WolfPack. Adler threw six and one-third innings, giving up seven hits, one earned run, struck out five, and walked two.
Landon Tenhagen finished 3-for-3 at the plate, with five RBI.
Josh Rowles went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Game two, things played out much differently. Madison College would give up the first run of the game, falling behind 1-0 when Casey Fletcher grounded out to third on a bunt which scored Neil DeCook. The 'Pack would fight back, scoring two on a
Landon Tenhagen double to right center in the bottom half of the inning. The Cavaliers would regain the lead in the fifth inning though. Kankakee would get two runs on two hits, and take a 3-2 advantage into the bottom of the seventh. Down to their final out, Madison College's no-quit attitude would shine through.
Bryce Barsness was able to smack a double to left center, scoring
Luke Maldonado, and tie the game 3-3. After holding the Cavaliers scoreless in the eighth frame, the WolfPack would win it in their first extra frame.
Nathan Pollock doubled down the left field line to score
Eric DuCharme all the way from first.
Cole Kroncke (4-0) would get the win in relief. Kroncke threw the game's final three innings, giving up zero hits, zero runs, and walking nobody. Once again,
Landon Tenhagen led the WolfPack's offense with two RBI.
Madison College (31-10, 9-1) will compete in their final North Central Community College Conference (N4C) contests tomorrow afternoon. The team welcomes College of DuPage to town for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 PM.
