Box Score 2 All good things must come to an end. The Madison College baseball team found that out the hard way on Sunday afternoon. Visiting Parkland College for a doubleheader, the WolfPack was swept 9-2, 6-0.
Game one, the WolfPack would fall behind the Cobras early on. Madison College gave up four runs combined in the game's opening two innings. Despite cutting the deficit to three in the fourth, the result of
Luke Maldonado scoring on a fielder's choice, the team would give up four more runs in the bottom half. The seven-run hole proved to be too deep for the 'Pack. Madison College scored just one more time, with
Josh Rowles grounding out to short to bring in
Bryce Barsness. Defensively, the WolfPack wasn't nearly at their best, tallying four errors for the game.
Paul Poirier (2-2) was charged with the loss for Madison College. Poirier threw four innings, gave up seven hits, two earned runs, and walked one. The 'Pack finished with six hits for the game.
Game two, Madison College didn't do any better. Parkland managed to shut out the WolfPack 6-0. After three and a half scoreless innings, the Cobras would turn it on. Parkland scored four times in the bottom of the fourth, which included three hits and two WolfPack errors.
Cody Peterson (2-1) took his first loss of the season. Peterson threw four innings, giving up five hits, four runs (zero earned), struck out three, and walked one. Madison College managed just four hits in the game, two coming off the bat of
Bryce Barsness.
Madison College (20-7, 5-1) will look to get back on the winning track on Tuesday, April 17. The WolfPack will host the University of Wisconsin Club Team at 4:00 PM.
