WolfPack Baseball Team Splits With Black Hawk College-Moline

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Playing a doubleheader in Moline, IL against Black Hawk College Sunday, the Madison College baseball team managed a split with the Braves. The WolfPack, which scored eight runs in a game one victory, gave up eight in their game two loss.

Game one, Madison College had to rally back twice to secure the victory. Trailing 2-1 after three innings, the 'Pack would score two runs on one hit, and one error, in the fourth. After Nathan Pollock reached first on a Braves error, and Eric DuCharme and Jake Page were walked, a Josh Rowles single to right would bring in Pollock and DuCharme. Their 3-2 lead wouldn't last long though. Black Hawk would regain control of the game, scoring two runs in the fifth to go ahead 4-3. Luckily, the WolfPack had more in store for the Braves. In the sixth inning Madison College scored five runs on five hits. Luke Maldonado's single to center scored Jon Dybevik and Eric DuCharme, followed by Treysen Vavra bringing in Bryce Barsness with his own single to center, and finally Landon Tenhagen helped Vavra and Maldonado cross the dish with a double to left. The strong sixth inning resulted in an 8-4 victory for Madison College.

Casey Doucette got credited with the win for the WolfPack, while Danny Sullivan picked up the save. Three players each finished with two RBI for Madison College, Luke Maldonado, Landon Tenhagen, and Josh Rowles. The 'Pack finished with ten hits, eight RBI, and drew three walks.

Game two, things didn't go nearly as well for the WolfPack. The Braves got their bats going early, scoring four runs in the first three innings. Madison College scored two runs in the same time frame, with a Luke Maldonado single to left in the third, scoring Ryan McShane, providing the team's only RBI. From that point on the WolfPack would be shut out, with Blackhawk scoring four more times, as Madison College would lose 8-2.

Paul Poirier took the loss for Madison College. Poirier threw three innings, giving up five hits, three earned runs, and striking out one Blackhawk batter. The 'Pack would finish the game with just five hits in 24 at-bats.

Madison College (9-4) will begin North Central Community College Conference (N4C) play on Saturday, March 31. The team will take on division one Triton College in a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM.
