Men’s Basketball Takes Down Fox Valley

Box Score The Madison College men's basketball team picked up their first win of the season with a huge second half to overtake the Fox Valley College Foxes in a non-conference game in Appleton, WI Monday night. All tied up at 40 after the first half, the 'Pack ratcheted up their defense and shot over 58 percent from the floor while outscoring the Foxes by 15 in the final 20 minutes for the 96-81 win.

Despite shooting far better than the Foxes from the field in the first half (60.7% to 38.1%), Fox Valley was able to get several clean looks from three-point range and outscore the visitors from long distance by seven baskets to head into the half tied with Madison College. The second half for Madison College marked an explosion on offense, led by six players that reached the double-digit point plateau. Two WolfPack also recorded double-doubles to propel Madison in the second half. Jason Miller led the team with 22 points on 9 of 19 shooting from the field, and recorded one of the team's two double-doubles (10 rebounds). Miller also tied for the team lead with six assists while adding one steal. Alex Wuensch added the other double-double with 10 points and 10 boards, while Lucas Baier (19), Dominic Fumbanks (16), Sheldon Cooks (14), and Charlie Graft (12) rounded out the high-scoring six some of Madison College athletes. Baier also led the team with three thefts, while Ryan Plaice and Wuensch added six and five assists respectively.

The 1-9 WolfPack head down to Iowa this weekend for two games, before making the trip back to Madison for a home game on December 12. Madison College plays the Ellsworth Community College Panthers on Saturday, December 8 in Iowa Falls before facing the North Iowa Area Community College Trojans in Mason City. Both games against the NJCAA DII schools start at 3:00 PM.
