Big Shots Ground the Hawks

The Madison College Men's Basketball team overcame a 11 point second half deficit and Garrett Borgrud made some huge shots down the stretch to give the WolfPack their second straight conference victory.  The WolfPack beat the visiting Harper College Hawks, 73-72.

The WolfPack trailed almost the entire first half as the visiting Hawks shot 52% from the field and were 5-for-13 from beyond the arc.  Madison College trailed by five points heading into halftime, paced by Tyler Kowalkowski's 11 points.

In the second half, Tyler Kowalkowski hit his stride scoring 19 of his game high 30 points to keep the WolfPack in the game.  Despite Kowalkowski's good shooting (9-for-20 from the field) and his 9-for-10 effort from the free throw line, the WolfPack trailed by as many as 11 points.  In fact, the WolfPack trailed for the final 12:03 of the game until Garrett Borgrud hit a shot with six seconds left to put Madison College up for good and give the team another North Central Community College Conference (N4C) victory.

Garrett Borgrud was held in check for most of the game until the final 2:18.  He scored eight of his 14 points in the final 2:18 including two huge baskets on Tyler Kowalkowski feeds in the final minute.  Rodger Davis also hit two key free throws with nine seconds left and finished the game with 10 points and nine rebounds going 4-for-4 from the free throw line.  In addition to Kowalkowski's career high 30 points he also dished out seven assists in the win.

The WolfPack can't take a seat as they are back in action again on Monday when they face UW-Marathon in Wausau, WI at 7:00 PM.  With the win, Madison College improved to 3-3 in N4C play and 5-14 overall.
