The Madison College WolfPack couldn't get it together tonight as the sixth ranked Jones County Junior College Bobcats walked away with the 11-4 win over the WolfPack in Madison's fourth game of the NJCAA DII World Series at David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid, OK. The 11-4 loss against the Bobcats was the 'Packs first loss in the double elimination tournament and ended their streak of eight consecutive playoff wins. The WolfPack will face the Kellogg Community College Bruins on Thursday, June 2 at 3:30 PM.

Madison was the home team for the first time in the 2011 World Series, and WolfPack starter Kyle Coenen started of the game the right way throwing a scoreless inning. Unfortunately the Madison bats couldn't jump ahead early and put of a scoreless frame of their own. Coenen struggled in the top of the second giving up three runs on three hits and the Bobcats grabbed the lead before Madison answered in the bottom of the second with three game tying runs. Andrew Wasmund started the inning by getting hit, stealing second for his 17th theft, and Tyler Brusky singled up the middle for the first WolfPack run before he was thrown out trying to extend the hit. After a groundout for the second out; James Furlano walked, stole second, and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Trevor Burmeister followed with an RBI single up the middle to drive in Furlano to close the gap, and Garrett Novinski kept the hit parade going with a single to left center. With runners on the corners with two outs, Ryan Freitag walked to load the bases and Tanner Vavra tied the game the hard way by getting hit and the game was knotted up 3-3 before the Bobcats got out of the inning.

The tie didn't last long as the Bobcats went up in the third with a solo run before adding another in the fourth for a two run lead. Down 5-3, the Madison College bats couldn't get going before Jones County plated five runs in the top of the sixth inning for the commanding 8-3 lead. Coenen surrendered four of the runs, and reliever Jake Peterson gave up one. After a scoreless inning and a half for both teams, the WolfPack showed life in the bottom of the eighth inning with a run to cut into the Bobcat lead. Treysen Vavra started the one run rally with a single, and Luke Maldonado pinch ran for the younger Vavra. Wasmund kept the ball rolling with a single to left field before Jones County recorded an out on a popup. Josh Rowles then reached on a fielder's choice, Wasmund was out on the play, and the WolfPack had runners on the corners with two outs. A passed ball allowed Maldonado to score and Madison was only down by six runs. After the final out of the inning was recorded, WolfPack pitcher Brent Mueller gave up the eleventh run for the Bobcats from Jones County to extend the lead to 11-4 in favor of the visitors. Pinch hitter Eric DuCharme did his best to start a ninth inning rally and Novinski followed with a double down the right field line. After a pitching change for Jones County, Freitag walked to load the bases with two outs for Madison College. The new Bobcat pitcher took over after that and struck out the last three WolfPack batters swinging to preserve the 11-4 win for Jones County.

The WolfPack offensive attack, which looked flat all game, managed to belt out 11 hits to the Bobcats 12 in the loss but fell short in the category that counts. Jones County strung together 12 hits, walked five times, reached base by getting hit twice, and were aided by two WolfPack errors in the lopsided victory over the 44-15 Madison College baseball team.

Madison College plays the early game of the evening on Thursday, June 2 at 3:30 PM against the 14th ranked Kellogg Community College Bruins. The Bruins from Battle Creek, MI are 32-25 heading into their matchup with theWolfPack.
