The Madison College baseball team continues to break out the brooms this season. Playing on the road, the WolfPack took it to Oakton Community College on Wednesday. Madison totaled 21 runs in a doubleheader with the Raiders, winning 6-2 and 15-3.
It took awhile for the WolfPack bats to get going in game one. However, to lead off the fourth inning Madison got back to back doubles from
Andrew Wasmund and
Tyler Brusky resulting in their first run. Three batters later,
Trevor Burmeister drove in Brusky for a two-run lead. Oakton would tie the game at two in the sixth, but the 'Pack would turn it on again in the seventh and final inning. Madison tallied four runs on three hits in their final frame to grab a 6-2 victory. Mitchell Arens picked up the win for the WolfPack in relief. Arens, who threw the final two innings for Madison, struck out two while giving up no earned runs.
Fresh off their game one win, the WolfPack would really turn on the offense in game two. It would start with three runs on two hits in the first inning. Next, the 'Pack added five more runs in the fourth, and four more in the sixth. The most exciting moment came in the seventh, with the game in hand, when
Jake Page hits a three-run homer. Madison finished off the sweep with 15 runs on 15 hits.
Michael Huckabay walked away with the victory for the WolfPack. Huckabay threw five and one-third innings giving up just three earned runs.
Madison, now 35-10 on the season, will host Morton College in a doubleheader on Saturday, May 7th. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM. The double dip will serve as Madison's final home series of the regular season.
