Madison College had two errors over the first four innings and righthander
Joel Effertz struggled as the WolfPack gave up runs in each of the first four innings to fall behind 6-3 after four innings. Both teams added a run in the seventh and Madison fell short in their ninth inning rally scoring one run and stranding two on base to lose 7-5.
Joel Effertz received his fourth loss of the season pitching five innings and giving up three earned runs and eleven hits.
Quintin Zander came in in relief pitching four innings giving up one earned runs and six hits. Both teams combined for 29 hits on the game.
The WolfPack offense was led by
Ryan Freitag and his 3-for-5 hitting. Tanner and
Treysen Vavra each had two hits as did teammate
Andrew Wasmund who also posted two RBIs.
The loss pushed Prairie State College's record to 2-0 in tournament play after they beat College of Lake County by the same score in the first game of the day. Madison College must win against College of Lake County in the late game to advance to the championship game scheduled for tomorrow at NOON.
