The WolfPack softball team opened their home season with a doubleheader against N4C conference opponent the College of DuPage Chaparrals and lost both games of the two game series, 7-3 and 15-2. Kassandra Kluge started and lost the first home game, and Jessica Spern lost game two of the doubleheader with an ineffective start.
Athena Brabant and Amanda Helgesen batted perfect in the opener as Brabant went 4-for-4 and Helgesen went 3-for-3 at the plate. Kaley Dorshorst also had a great day on the offensive side of the ball as she went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Dorshorst homered in the fifth inning and drove in Jessica Spern to open the frame.
Freshman Kaley Dorshorst was the WolfPack player to stand out in the second game as she was 2-for-3 with a RBI as she drove in Spern with a second inning single.
The WolfPack softball team has a short turn around and is back at it tomorrow afternoon, April 8, with the second home doubleheader of the season. The 1-17 'Pack takes on Joliet Junior College for two games.
