Their trip to Kankakee was probably not what Madison College had envisioned. Playing a doubleheader on Sunday, the WolfPack were swept by the Cavaliers 8-6 and 12-7.
The WolfPack got hit hard at times in the opening game. The Cavaliers scored a combined six runs in the third and fourth innings.
Joel Effertz, who was 3-0 on the season, took his first loss in the outing.
Treysen Vavra led the Madison College offense going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
In the second game two,
Ryan Freitag got the 'Pack off to a great start by hitting a solo home run in the first. Freitag would finish the game 2-for-3 with two RBI, and two runs scored. However, with the game tied 5-5 after 4 and a half innings complete, the Cavaliers put up seven runs in the bottom of the fifth and never looked back.
Madison College (10-7, 1-3) visits Illinois Valley Community College for a doubleheader on Thursday, April 7. On Friday, the WolfPack plays their home opener against College of Lake County at 3:00 PM.
