WolfPack Softball Swept by Rock Valley

The Madison College softball team made the short trip to Rockford, IL only to be swept the Rock Valley College Golden Eagles. The WolfPack fell in game one by a lopsided score of 8-0 before being edged out in the second game by the Golden Eagles 3-2.

Kassandra Kluge and Jessica Spern started the first game of the doubleheader with Kluge pitching the majority of the contest. She tossed four solid innings before being relieved by Spern. Spern tossed the final two frames in the 8-0 loss.

The second game was a pitcher's duel with both starters throwing four scoreless innings before the WolfPack struck first with two runs in the top of the fifth inning to give the visitors the 2-0 lead. The Golden Eagles slowly clawed back into it with one run off of Madison starter Gabrielle Komprood. The fifth inning score for Rockford narrowed the lead to 2-1 in favor of the WolfPack before the home team plated two more runs in the bottom of the sixth for the 3-2 advantage. Rock Valley then shutout the Madison offense in the seventh inning as they picked up the win the hard fought contest.

Next up for the Madison College softball team is a non conference doubleheader against North Iowa Area Community College on Sunday, May 1. The home doubleheader start at 1:00 PM
