North Central Community College Conference (N4C) play has begun for Madison College, as the WolfPack split a doubleheader at Harper College on Saturday. After dropping game one, 2-1, the 'Pack took game two in extra-innings, 4-3.
In game one, Madison College got on the board first.
Jordan Chardukian's single to left field drove in
Tanner Vavra in the first inning, but that would be all the offense the WolfPack could muster up. Despite striking out four batters in a complete game effort,
Kyle Coenen was charged with the loss. Coenen gave up just two runs on seven hits.
Tanner Vavra played the role of hero in game two. With the score tied 2-2 in the eighth, Vavra hit a two-run homer to put Madison up 4-2. The 'Pack would surrender one run in the bottom of the inning, but were still able to hold on as
Michael Huckabay picked up the win.
Brent Mueller was credited with the save.
Madison College (10-5, 1-1) will visit Kankakee Community College tomorrow afternoon. The Cavaliers have won six of their last eight.
