WolfPack Baseball Records Eighth Straight Win

The Madison College baseball team extended their winning streak to eight games after taking down Kishwaukee College 6-3 and 9-2 at the friendly confines of Robin Roberts Baseball Field in Madison.

The WolfPack came back in the first game of the doubleheader after starter Michel Huckabay allowed three early runs before settling down. Facing a 3-0 deficit, Madison College added a run in the bottom of the third before tying the game with two runs in the fourth inning. After scoreless innings for both teams in the fifth, Madison College jumped out for three runs in the bottom of the sixth before Mitchell Arens replaced Huckabay. Huckabay threw six solid innings of three run ball with two strikeouts and picked up the win.  Arens surrendered one hit and struckout one in an inning of relief for his first save of the year.

Treysen Vavra finished the day 3-for-3 at the plate and added three RBI, while Jordan Chardukian went 2-for-3 and scored three times. Chardukian also added a stolen base in the win.

Madison College also came from behind in the second game of the doubleheader before cruising to the 9-2 win. Starting pitcher Quintin Zander struggled in the first inning, giving up two runs and four of his eight baserunners, but held on for the complete game win. Zander tossed seven innings and struck out one to improve to 2-0 on the year.

Down 2-0 after the first inning, the WolfPack scored one run in the bottom of the fourth before exploding for three and five runs the next two innings. Andrew Wasmund led the WolfPack offensive attack with three hits in four at-bats, while driving in two and scoring twice. Wasmund also added a home run and a stolen base to cap off his strong day at the plate. Tyler Brusky, Treysen Vavra, and Jordan Chardukian all finished with two hits. Vavra went 2-for-3 with a RBI, Chardukian went 2-for-3 with two RBI and scored twice, and Brusky went 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored. Brusky also stole a base.

The 18-7 Madison College baseball team has an off day this Monday before travelling to Peosta, IA for a nine-inning game against Kirkwood Community College on Tuesday, April 12. The 5:00 PM game against Kirkwood is being played at Clarke University.
