The WolfPack extended their winning streak to three games and have won seven of their last eight games downing Carl Sandburg College, 13-4, in Galesburg, IL, on Sunday night. In the second game of the doubleheader, the WolfPack used a six run fifth inning and sixteen hits to earn the victory.
With the game tied at 4-4 after the fourth inning the WolfPack erupted for six runs on six hits in the top of the fifth inning. The WolfPack added three runs in the sixth inning to win 13-4 in seven innings. Second year lefthander,
Quintin Zander earned the win as he was one of five pitchers to see action for the WolfPack. Zander pitched an inning and two-thirds allowing just two hits.
Secondbaseman
Tanner Vavra continued his hot hitting as he went 3-for-4 for the second straight game. First year teammate,
Tyler Brusky, from Milwaukee Pius, also had a great game going 3-for-4 with five RBIs. Centerfielder
Ryan Freitag went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.
Andrew Wasmund and
James Furlano also pitched in to the 16 hit effort with two hits a piece.
The WolfPack improved to 9-4 overall and will play their first conference opponent of the year when they face Harper College in Palatine, IL on Saturday, April 2.
