The Madison College men's basketball team came all so close to picking up their second victory of the season, but the Rochester Community and Technical College Yellowjackets had other ideas as they battled back for the 74-71 win. Madison College held a 35-33 lead in the hard fought first half, but wasn't able to hold the Yellowjackets down in the second half as they used 20 second chance points to their advantage and outscored the 'Pack by five in the pivotal second half to escape with the three point win.
Garret Borgrud paced the Madison men in the three point loss with 26 points on eight of 16 shooting from the field. Borgrud also made all 10 of his free throws, and added an assist, a block, and led the team with three steals. Three others finished with double digit point totals in the balanced attack, including
Darius Norris (12),
Tyler Kowalkowski (11), and
Jordan Van Cleave (10). Norris just missed out on his fifth double-double of the season (9 rebounds), and
Alex Cook fell just short of reaching double digit points as he finished with nine.
After the close loss to the Rochester Yellowjackets, the Madison College men's basketball team drops to 1-6 on the year. The 'Pack returns home for a Thursday, December 8 game against the North Iowa Area Community College Trojans. Tip-off against the NJCAA Division II NIACC Trojans is at 7:30 PM.
