The Madison College men's basketball team is back on the winning track. After suffering back-to-back losses at the hands of Rochester Community & Technical College and North Iowa Area Community College, the WolfPack picked up their second win of the season Saturday night, besting Western Technical College 73-62.
Offensively,
Garrett Borgrud was once again a beast for the 'Pack. Borgrud, who shot 8-of-18 from the floor, finished with a team-high 21 points. He also tallied nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Alex Cook provided a spark off the bench for Madison College with 15 points, while
Jordan Van Cleave registered 11 points. For the game the 'Pack hit 45.9% of their shots (28-of-61). Despite committing more turnovers, the team was able to do more with the Cavalier errors than vice versa. Off of 16 Western turnovers the WolfPack was able to score 15 points. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers got just nine points off of 18 WolfPack mistakes. After taking a two point lead into the halftime break, Madison College was able to pull away in the second half, outscoring the Cavaliers 42-33.
Madison College (2-7, 0-0) will compete in the Maricopa County Holiday Classic beginning Wednesday, December 28th in Phoenix, AZ. The team will open play against Chandler-Gilbert Community College at 4:00 PM, prior to playing Phoenix College and South Mountain Community College.
