Madison College Volleyball Dominates Playoff Opener

The WolfPack volleyball team jumped out on fire during a NJCAA Region IV Quarterfinal game as they routed their conference foe the College of DuPage in three sets. The 'Pack first blow came in the form of a dominating 25-13 win in the first game before rolling over DuPage for the three game sweep with 25-18 and 25-22 wins in the final two games. The matchup with DuPage marked the fourth time during the 2011 campaign that the two teams have met. Madison College not only finished the series with a four match sweep over the DuPage Chaparrals, the 'Pack also took all 11 games played in the series.

A trio of Madison College players led the team on the offensive side as they accounted for 18 of the 25 team kills. Sophomores Kate Jonas and Hannah Schwartzer picked up six kills, along with freshman Trichelle Hoppman. Schwartzer's shared kill lead during the game marked the 22nd time she led her team in that statistical category, and she currently leads the team with 303 kills in 31 matches. Hoppman led the team in attack percentage as she recorded all six of her kills in 10 attempts with no errors for a .600 percentage. Schwartzer and Hoppman also each recorded three solo blocks. Sophomore Kristen Halma once again led the team in assist with 24 as she was involved in almost all of the team's attacks. Sophomore Calli Dahl paced the team with 16 digs and led the team in service aces with three.
