The Madison College volleyball team got back to winning in a hurry Tuesday night in River Grove, IL by defeating the host Triton College Trojans in three sets: 25-13, 25-14, and 25-11. The three set match took last than an hour as the visiting WolfPack dominated the Trojans with 37 kills and 14 service aces in picking up the N4C conference win to improve to 5-4 in the conference and 19-8 overall.
Several WolfPack individuals got into to Tuesday night's action, including all ten of the athletes on the team that played in at least one game. Sophomore
Calli Dahl (the team leader in digs in 16 games this season), posted 11 kills to lead the team in kills for the second match this year. She finished with a .529 attack percentage for the match, second to teammate and fellow sophomore
Kate Jonas. Jonas registered seven kills in 11 attempts for a .545 attack percentage. Dahl added an assist and six digs, while Jonas contributed two service aces, a solo block, and a team-leading 10 digs. Sophomore Kristen Halma secured the team lead in assists in all 27 games this season with 30 assists, and recorded seven digs to go along with two service aces. Sophomore
Ashley Ponyicsanyi led the team with five service aces, and chipped in six kills and nine digs.
The WolfPack have three more N4C conference games in a row to improve on their 5-4 N4C record and make up ground on conference leader Joliet Junior College. The next match for the 'Pack is scheduled for Thursday, September 13 against the College of DuPage. The 19-8 WolfPack travel to Glen Ellyn, IL for the 6:00 PM conference matchup.
