WolfPack host #7 Kankakee Community College, Split Series

James Furlano went 3-for-3 with a triple and 3 RBIs in the 13-1 win over Kankakee.

After losing the first game 6-2, the WolfPack came out swinging in the second game. They avenged the earlier loss by crushing the #7 team in the country, Kankakee Community College, 13-1.

The first game went into extra innings after being tied 2-2 through seven innings of play. The WolfPack struck first on a #Kyle Van Abel# bunt in the bottom of the first inning. Kankakee battled back with two runs of their own in the third inning on one hit, one error and a sacrifice fly.

In the fifth inning, #Tanner Vavra# stole third base and was scored on a #Brent Kakwitch# sacrifice fly to bring the game to a tie.

In the sixth and seventh innings, the two teams combined for just one hit and the game moved into the eighth inning. #Cody Griebling#, who had given up just three hits in seven innings of work was pulled and the WolfPack brought out #Andy Stochl# from the bullpen.

After retiring the first batter, the WolfPack struggled to get the next two outs. Kankakee strung together a few hits and left the inning with a four-run lead. Van Abel was able to get on base with a single in the bottom of the eighth inning, but the WolfPack were unable to match the four runs that the Cavaliers put up.

The second game was all Madison College. Pitcher #Tyler Jones# gave up just four hits and one run as he improved to 7-0. From the plate, the WolfPack got big games from #James Furlano# and #Garrett Novinski#. They both went 3-for-3 from the plate and combined for five RBIs. One of Furlano's hits was good for a two-run triple in the second inning.

In the third inning the WolfPack scored eight runs and pulled away from Kankakee for good. The WolfPack scored eight runs on eight hits and two Kankakee errors.

#Kevin Wild# was brought in for the final two outs in relief for Jones. With runners on first and third, he got the first batter to strike out swinging and the second batter grounded out to third base to end the game.
