The final three innings of the 2010 NJCAA Region IV Sectional Tournament championship provided eleven combined runs by both teams and lots of drama as the WolfPack escaped with a 8-7 win over the visiting Black Hawk College Braves.  The win advances Madison College to the NJCAA Region IV Regional Tournament in Kankakee, IL on May 20-22.

Over the first six innings, the WolfPack jumped out to a 4-0 lead scoring runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Starting WolfPack pitcher, Josh Jaro ran into trouble in the seventh after pitching six scoreless innings. After scoring one run in the seventh, the Braves catcher hit a three-run homerun to tie the game at 4-4.

In the bottom half of the seventh inning, the WolfPack answered, with four runs of their own on five hits, including two triples, one by John Perszyk for his second of the game and one by Kendall Frank that scored two. Leading 8-4 going into the eighth inning the WolfPack lead was not safe as the Braves scored two runs in the eighth and one run in the ninth. The Braves fell just short and Madison College held on for the 8-7 win as reliever, Chevy Tollefson earned his third win of the season pitching two innings.

John Perszyk recorded two of the three triples and was 3-for-5 with an RBI.  Kendall Frank had the other triple in his only at-bat, posting two RBIs.  Tanner Vavra stayed hot as he was 3-for-3 with two RBIs with teammates Kyle Van Abel and Lukas Marwitz each going 2-for-4 with an RBI.  The WolfPack now have some time off before playing in the NJCAA Region IV Regional Tournament in Kankakee, IL on May 20-22.
