WolfPack Hold Off DuPage Twice

Justin Scanlon went 4-for-8 against the Chaparrals and recorded the game-winning RBI in the second game of the doubleheader.

Madison College stayed perfect at home after coming from behind to beat College of DuPage and holding off a late Chaparral rally in the second game. The WolfPack are now 5-0 at home this season.

In the first game, the WolfPack found themselves in a 5-0 hole entering the bottom of the third inning. A Tanner Vavra bunt got the bats going in the third inning. Luke Marwitz followed with a triple and drove in Vavra to get Madison College on the board. After the third inning the Wolfpack cut the Chaparral lead to two.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the WolfPack trailed 7-6 and scored four runs to take the lead heading into the seventh inning. Marwitz got things started with his second triple of the game and was batted in on Brent Kakwitch's single to right field. Three runs later and the WolfPack took a 10-7 lead heading into the last inning.

Justin Hunt closed out the game after facing five batters. After retiring the first batter, the next two walked, but he managed to get the final two batters out for his second save of the season. Quitin Zander got the win and improved to 2-0 on the season.

Madison College led 8-5 entering the seventh inning in the second game and gave up three runs to enter the bottom of the seventh inning tied.

The WolfPack recaptured the lead and got the win without even getting a hit. After College of DuPage walked the first two batters, Kevin Wild was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Justin Scanlon. Scanlon was then hit by a pitch for the game-winning RBI.

Josh Jaro (2-0) got the win after coming into the game and striking out the only batter he faced in the top of the seventh inning. With the win, Madison College improved to 13-2 on the season.
