The Madison College baseball team continued to play well over the weekend by defeating Milwaukee Area Technical College twice at Robin Roberts Field on April 17. The WolfPack (24-4) outscored the Stormers 17-4 in the two games.
Jack Larsen (2-1) took the mound in the first game and had a no-hitter going through six innings. The second batter for Milwaukee in the top of the seventh inning broke up the no-hitter bid for
Larsen. He finished the game allowing just one hit and one earned run with three strikeouts.
A four-run fifth inning blew the game open for the WolfPack. The inning was capped off by a
Kyle Van Abel home run. He finished the game batting 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Justin Scanlon added two RBIs for the WolfPack on 2-for-4 hitting.
In the second game, the WolfPack found themselves knotted in a 2-2 tie entering the bottom of the third inning. Much like the first game, they used a four-run inning to pull away from Milwaukee.
The inning started off strong with a
Brett Sweger home run. After one more hit and two errors committed by the Stormers, the WolfPack entered the fourth inning with a 6-2 lead that they never relinquished.
The pitching for the WolfPack continued to be solid as
Quintin Zander picked up the win and improved to 3-2 on the season.
Zander, along with reliever
Parker Schrage combined for nine strikeouts and just five walks.
